Place Where Russian Fleet Is Fleeing From Syria Becomes Known

OSINT analysts have revealed the details.

Yesterday, the first signs appeared that the Kremlin had decided to withdraw its naval fleet from its naval base in Tartus (Syria).

In fact, this suggests that Putin is not going to send new reinforcements to Assad's army in the fight against the rebels.

ISW analysts have analyzed the news from OSINTers in detail to voice the situation around the Russian Navy.

On December 2, OSINT analyst MT Anderson studied in detail the satellite images from December 2, comparing them with the images from December 1 and November 30.

At that time, there were 6 frigates, tankers and submarines of the Russian Federation at the base in Tartus. It was already clear from the photo from December 3 that all 6 ships had been taken out to sea.

Today, the Russian Federation cannot transfer these ships to Black Sea ports, since Turkey is required to comply with the Montreux Convention, which is why many analysts are confident that the Kremlin will transfer its navy to the Kaliningrad region.

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine stated that the Russian Ministry of Defence could transfer some of its forces from its “Africa Corps” to Syria.

ISW cannot visually confirm the statements of Ukrainian intelligence. However, if this is true, then the Kremlin wants to avoid transferring regular forces from Ukraine to Syria to assist Assad.

The transfer of the Navy from Tartus indicates that the Kremlin is afraid of the rebels advancing to Hama and Tartus itself.
