Yerevan is on the way to the EU.
On 12 February, Armenia's National Assembly passed a bill on the start of accession to the EU in the first reading, Armenpress reports.
Sixty-three members of the Armenian parliament voted in favour of the bill, while 7 voted against it.
The draft was initiated by the EuroReferendum civil initiative, which collected 60,000 signatures in its support - more than the required minimum of 50,000 for submitting a legislative initiative to the parliament.
The final version of the law, approved by the Commission on European Integration, includes the following wording: ‘The Republic of Armenia, expressing the will of the people of Armenia, aiming to make the country safe, stable, developed and prosperous, announces the beginning of the process of accession to the European Union’.
We remind you that Lukashenka criticised Yerevan for moving towards the EU. In response, the country's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the dialogue with the dictator is over.
