He is ‘periodically’ accused of ‘dependency’ in Russia.
On 14 March, in his speech in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Lukashenka complained about Russian politicians that they ‘periodically’ accuse official Minsk of ‘dependency’ from Moscow.
The dictator read out looking at the sheet of paper that sometimes ‘some hotheads appear’ who ‘produce narratives about the imbalance of benefits, dependency of Minsk, the need for Belarus to become a part of Russia, sarcastically talking about our union’.
‘You know, when they talk about dependency - and it was pretty often - then, meeting face to face with my older brother, I say to him: ‘Vladimir, well, it was necessary to invent these sanctions, pressure on us, so that Russia finally realised that Belarus is important for Russia, that Belarus still has a lot of things that Russia badly needs,’ Lukashenka said.
