The new unit will focus on youth recruitment.
A new corps consisting of five brigades is set to be created within the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU), with the foundation being the experience and approaches of the 13th NGU Brigade "Khartia". This was announced by the commander of the unit, Colonel Ivan Abalenski, on Radio Khartia.
According to Colonel Obolensky, the unit will undergo a reorganization of command, as "we want to build the corps' management like Khartia 2.0."
"For this, we need people who will go with us further, as well as new people from other brigades," said Colonel Ihar Abalenski, noting that the NGU command supports the changes.
Obolensky further explained that each brigade "will contribute" and emphasized that the main task is for "each brigade to bring its experience, including in management." The Khartia commander added that expanding the unit is not new for the personnel, as "for the success of the project, people must understand in advance how the new structure will function."
"The command has a vision for the Corps. The Ministry of Internal Affairs, the NGU command, are providing the opportunity for expansion and creating a space for creativity," said one of the brigade's founders, Usevalad Kazhemiaka, adding that significant challenges await them and that a major focus will be placed on youth recruitment for the new corps.
Earlier, it was reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (UAF) would form the first corps based on the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade (3 OShBr). Three corps will be deployed along the front line, which will include the 3 OShBr, and the 12th and 13th NGU brigades. Each corps will be responsible for a front line segment of 150 km.
It was later revealed that the UAF plans to create 20 army corps. The first army corps will be established based on the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, and Andrei Bialetski will lead it. Significant changes are also expected for the marines and Air Force rapid reaction forces.
