Aurus Senat Completely Destroyed
On the night of Saturday, a high-end Aurus Senat luxury vehicle burned down in central Moscow. This was reported by Fontanka and other Russian media outlets.
Videos of the sedan engulfed in flames quickly spread across the internet.
According to the automotive publication Motor, the car was manufactured in 2024, is registered in the garage of the Administrative Directorate of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and is listed on the balance sheet of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Autotransport Combine.
The car was developed by Federal State Unitary Enterprise NAMI, and the Aurus Senat is assembled at a facility in Yelabuga, Republic of Tatarstan.
Official dealer websites state that Aurus vehicles are equipped with a fire suppression system "designed to detect and extinguish fires under the hood and beneath the vehicle." However, in this case, it failed to activate, and the fire was only extinguished by firefighters. The car is beyond repair—it burned down completely.
When asked by Fontanka why a car equipped with advanced safety and monitoring systems caught fire, FGUP NAMI was unable to provide an answer.
General Director Fyodor Nazarov responded, "No comment." Press secretary Andrey Garmai criticized the journalist for calling on a Saturday, suggesting they send an email instead. However, he later called back and promised to provide information as soon as something became known.
