Lukashenka Appoints Karayeu As Chairman Of Hrodna Regional Executive Committee

Karanik became Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus.

Lukashenka appointed former Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus Yury Karayeu as Chairman of the Hrodna Regional Executive Committee, Lukashenka's press service writes.

In March, Karayeu was appointed acting chairman of the regional executive committee to replace Uladzimir Karanik, who was transferred from the position of chairman of the regional executive committee to the position of Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus.

Prior to this, Karayeu held the position of Lukashenka's aide — inspector for the Hrodna region.

Yury Karayeu is originally from North Ossetia. Since 1987, he served in the internal troops, in 2012-2019 he was the commander of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, from June 11, 2019 to October 29, 2020 — the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
