In response, Canada postponed the imposition of counter duties on goods from the US.
Canada is postponing the second phase of retaliatory duties against the US. This comes after United States President Donald Trump exempted from tariffs Canadian and Mexican goods covered by the North American Trade Agreement.
This is reported by Bloomberg.
According to the publication, Trump signed decrees reducing tariffs of his administration - until 2 April. In response, Canadian Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc said the Canadian government would push back its plan to impose 25 per cent counter duties on US products worth C$125 billion ($87.4 billion). That list includes automobiles, steel and aluminium. These tariffs were supposed to come into effect around 25 March, but now there is a new date for them - 2 April.
At the same time, Canada is keeping the tariffs imposed on Tuesday. These concern goods worth about 30 billion Canadian dollars that the country imports from the United States.
