The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reacted sharply.
Russian soldiers have executed four Ukrainian soldiers who surrendered as prisoners of war. This act of cruelty was recorded by drones.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Associated Press News and a statement by the speaker of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Georgiy Tykhiy.
The Russian occupiers have executed four Ukrainian soldiers who surrendered in the village of Pyatikhatki in the south of Ukraine. The prisoners of war came out of a destroyed house with their hands up as a sign of capitulation and lay face down on the grass.
This situation was captured by two drones, a Ukrainian drone and a Russian drone, which filmed the scene from high above. The Associated Press managed to obtain both videos, but they offer very different versions of what happened next.
According to the video that The Associated Press obtained from European military officials, soldiers with Russian insignia on their uniforms are seen raising their weapons and shooting each of the four Ukrainians in the back with such brutality that one man was left headless.

However, the video of the Russian drone, which AP posted on pro-Kremlin social media, suddenly cuts off at a moment with the men lying on the ground.

Rollo Collins of the Centre for Information Resilience, a London-based organisation said it was not the only such killing to be reported since the end of 2023.

‘Of all the executions we've seen since the end of 2023, this is one of the clearest cases. This is not a typical combat killing. This is an illegal act,’ he emphasised.
‘Horrific video from The Associated Press. Russian occupiers executed four Ukrainian prisoners of war after they surrendered. Such executions have become systemic, but each of them is shocking in its cruelty,’ the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry speaker stressed.
Tykhiy emphasised that each such execution only confirms that Ukraine is dealing with beasts.
‘These executions not only show that we are dealing with beasts. They also demonstrate that the Russian army is a collection of degenerates. They lack basic discipline, because a disciplined army does not execute prisoners of war - this is contrary to military logic,’ he explained.
At the same time, the speaker stressed that this is a war crime and it must be investigated, including by the International Criminal Court.
‘All those responsible must be brought to justice. We are also grateful to AP for the excellent journalistic work that demonstrates how the Russians fabricate videos to cover up their atrocities. We must not allow them to escape accountability,’ the Foreign Ministry spokesman summarised.
