Belarus Prepares ‘Surprise’ For Hundreds Of Thousands Motorcyclists

The surprises will begin today.

The State Traffic Inspectorate of Belarus will hold a national campaign “Motorcyclist” from April 16 to 22. They will use video cameras of the national monitoring system, and will deploy motorcycle patrols, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

At present, 436 thousand motorcycles are already registered in Belarus.

“And to identify those that are not properly registered, employees of the internal affairs bodies will work in populated areas and highways. The State Traffic Inspectorate will give a fundamental assessment of the actions of violators,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

Since the beginning of the year, there have been 30 accidents involving motorcycles, in which six people died and 30 were injured.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded motorcyclists to observe the speed limit, the need to monitor the situation using mirrors, and to be attentive and careful when changing lanes.

“Remember that on a motorcycle or moped you must move with the low beam headlights on. The driver and passenger must wear fastened motorcycle helmets,” the State Traffic Inspectorate noted.
