This year, the holiday is common to all faiths.
Catholics, Orthodox and Protestants in Belarus and around the world celebrate Easter.
Festive services were held in all Catholic churches, Orthodox churches and Protestant prayer houses in Belarus.
Easter is the most anticipated bright day for many Christians. Easter symbolizes the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, who accepted death for the sins of people and for the salvation of the human race.
Easter is a holiday with a floating date, which is calculated according to the lunar-solar calendar. Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first spring full moon.
Despite the difference in calendars, Catholics (Gregorian calendar) and Orthodox Christians (Julian calendar) celebrate Easter on the same day this year.
