Russia Officially Confirms Liquidation Of General Yaroslav Moskalik

The explosion occurred as a result of the detonation of a homemade explosive device.

The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case on the fact of the "murder" of General Yaroslav Moskalik, said Svetlana Petrenko, a representative of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

The department noted that they opened a criminal case on the grounds of crimes under Article 105, Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder, illegal trafficking of explosives) on the fact of the explosion of a Volkswagen Golf car near house 2 on Nesterov Street in the city of Balashikha.

They also confirmed the death of Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation added that the explosion occurred as a result of the detonation of a homemade explosive device filled with striking elements.

Earlier, Russian media reported a car explosion in the courtyard of a residential building in Balashikha, Moscow Region, in the Aviatorov microdistrict, built for the military. It was noted that the explosion could have killed Deputy Chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Yaroslav Moskalik.
