CNN: Trump Publicly Promised To End War In Ukraine Within 24 Hours 53 Times

The rhetoric of the US president has changed now.
US President Donald Trump has publicly promised to end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours 53 times. Today he admits that these statements were exaggerated, writes CNN.
This week, during an interview with Time magazine, Trump was reminded of his promises to end the war within 24 hours. He responded:
“Well, I said that figuratively, and I said that as an exaggeration. Obviously, people know that when I said that, it was said in jest, but it was also said that it will be ended,” Trump said.
However, the facts tell a different story. According to Factba.se, a database of Trump's public statements, the American president has publicly, seriously and consistently said at least 53 times that he would end the war between Russia and Ukraine either within 24 hours or before his inauguration.
Iowa rally, July 2023: “I’ll get that done within 24 hours. Everyone says, ‘Oh, no, you can’t.’ Absolutely I can. Absolutely I can.”
Pennsylvania, July 2023: “I’ll meet with Putin, I’ll meet with Zelensky. And within 24 hours that war will be settled. It will be over. It will be absolutely over.”
In a CNN interview, May 2023: "I will resolve this war in one day, 24 hours."
Debate, June 2024: "I will resolve the war in Ukraine before I even take office."
September 2024: "As president-elect, I will resolve this."
CNN notes that these and dozens of other statements were part of Trump's official rhetoric during speeches, rallies, and debates in 2023-2024. The claim that this was "a jest" is refuted by Trump's own words.
"He wasn't joking," the publication concluded.
