The company issued a statement saying.
The American chain of fast food restaurants McDonald's is not going to resume work in Russia. "Our position is clear and remains unchanged," the corporation said in a statement published on the page of its Ukrainian division in X.
The day before it became known that the company had applied for registration of its trademarks in Russia. This provoked rumors that it is preparing the ground for a comeback. McDonald's explained that they are simply engaged in brand protection to prevent outsiders from using it.
"Intellectual property is one of our most valuable assets. McDonald's regularly renews ownership of its trademarks around the world, even in countries where it has no operations. We do this to secure our brand", - stated in the message. It recalled that the corporation was one of the first international businesses to condemn the armed aggression against Ukraine and leave the Russian market, announcing the sale of the network in May 2022. "This decision is a testament to the company's values, and we remain true to those values," McDonald's assured.
