The President of Ukraine has reacted to Putin's statement about the ‘temporary truce’.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has commented on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's statement about a ‘ceasefire’ from 8 to 10 May. Zelensky said that the fire should be stopped for at least 30 days.
‘Now here is another attempt of manipulation again: for some reason everyone should wait for 8 May and only then cease fire to ensure silence for Putin for the time of the parade. We value people's lives, not parades. That is why we believe - the world believes - that there is no reason to wait for 8 May,' Zelensky said during his evening video message on Monday, 28 April.
The Ukrainian president also said that the fire should be stopped immediately and completely.
‘The fire must be stopped not for a few days to kill again later. An immediate, complete and unconditional ceasefire - and for at least 30 days so that it is guaranteed and reliable - is what can provide the basis for real diplomacy,’ Zelensky said.
