Only 39 per cent of Americans support his actions.
The approval rating of US President Donald Trump at the end of 100 days of his new stay in office has turned out to be the lowest in the last 80 years: 55 per cent of Americans spoke negatively about the activities of the White House head and only 39 per cent supported his actions. These results were published on Sunday, 27 April, based on the results of a joint poll of 2,464 US voters conducted jointly by Ipsos, ABC News and The Washington Post from 18 to 22 April.
‘A majority of Americans say the president is ‘going too far’ by trying to expand the powers of the chief executive, firing government employees to reduce the size of the federal workforce, closing federal agencies and taking action against political opponents,’ WP commented on the poll results. The chart published by the newspaper with the names of American presidents shows that Trump's current rating is the lowest. ‘Trump's approval rating is lower than any previous president at the 100-day mark in their first or second term,’ reads the commentary to the chart.
More Than 40% Of Respondents Feel Impoverished
In particular, 67 per cent of survey participants are dissatisfied with the Republican's actions during the recent stock market crash, 64 per cent did not support imposing duties on foreign countries' goods, and 61 per cent expressed dissatisfaction with US policy towards other countries, Deutsche Welle notes.
72 per cent of respondents are convinced that Trump's actions will trigger a recession in the near future, and more than 40 per cent complained about worsening of their personal financial situation. In February, 45 per cent of Americans supported Donald Trump, after he had signed a significant number of executive orders, and 53 per cent of respondents did not approve of his work. During Trump's first term, his level of support after his first 100 days in office was 3 percentage points higher than it is now.
‘We no longer have a free and fair ‘press’ in this country. We have a press that writes bad articles and massively falsifies polls. It is compromised and corrupt. Sad!’ Trump disagreed with the poll results on his Truth Social network.
He accused the media of writing only negative things about him and called them ‘enemies of the people.’
‘They are truly the enemy of the people! I wish them all the best, but I will continue to fight to make America great again!’ the White House chief pledged again.
