Video fact.
Charlie Company operators from the 14th Independent Unmanned Aerial Systems Regiment have successfully used Switchblade 600 attack drones to destroy Russian Buk and Tor air defence systems deep behind enemy lines. In the course of operations in the Donetsk direction, three enemy anti-aircraft missile systems were detected and hit in a fortnight.
This was reported by the unit's press service on 2 April, publishing a video of hitting enemy hardware.
According to the military, Ukrainian reconnaissance drones were monitoring the positions of Russian troops before the strike. After the precise identification of targets, they were struck using Switchblade 600 drones equipped with a system of capture and automatic targeting. At that, the air defence systems of the Russian Armed Forces failed to detect and intercept the Ukrainian drones.
‘The total value of the damaged hardware is about $50 million,’ the press service specified.
These barrage munitions are launched using a compact tubular launcher, which allows for rapid deployment in combat conditions.
The Switchblade 600 is capable of remaining airborne for up to 40 minutes while travelling up to 40 km and barraging over the target. Its maximum speed is 185 km/h and its powerful warhead allows it to engage armoured vehicles, including tanks.
Main characteristics:
Flight range - up to 80 km.
Flight time - 40 min.
Cruising speed - 110 km/h.
Dive speed - 185 km/h.
Operating altitude - from 150 to 4500 metres.
