Show Trial Under Political Article Held In Brest College

A man was accused of “publicly insulting” Lukashenka.

On April 2, the Maskouski District Court of Brest held a visiting session in the assembly hall of the Polytechnic College of the Brest Technological University. The man, whose name is unknown, was charged under Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code (publicly insulting Lukashenko), BG.media writes.

The press service did not say what exactly the man was accused of. Judge Maryja Aliferuk found him guilty and sentenced him to two years of restricted freedom without being sent to an open-type correctional facility.

The sentence has not entered into legal force and can be appealed and protested.

The trial of the man was a “show” staged for the students of the Polytechnic College.
