Over 150 UAVs Attack Russia: Three Military Airfields Hit

The attack lasted 10 hours.

On the night of April 9, air defense systems intercepted 158 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions, the Russian Defense Ministry reported. The attack lasted 10 hours and ended at 6 a.m. Moscow time. Most of the drones were shot down over Krasnodar Krai - 67, the Rostov region — 29, and North Ossetia — 15. The Voronezh, Kursk, Belgorod, Penza, Saratov, and Oryol regions, Stavropol Krai, and the annexed Crimea were also attacked, The Moscow Times writes.

In North Ossetia, drones were shot down in the Mozdok District, said the head of the republic, Sergei Menyailo. According to him, there were no casualties or damage. As Astra notes, citing local residents, the target of the attack in Mozdok was a military airfield. In the Saratov region, according to Shot, explosions thundered in the city of Engels, near which there is a base of Russian strategic bombers. In the Orenburg region, which is not mentioned in the Defense Ministry's report, drones also tried to attack a military airfield. This was reported by the region's governor Yevgeny Solntsev. “There are no casualties or damage. Please do not panic, the situation is under control,” he wrote on Telegram. In the Penza region, the Serdobsky district, where an arsenal of missile and artillery weapons is located, was attacked, Astra writes.

In the Krasnodar region, drones flew to the suburbs of Slavyansk-on-Kuban, where an oil refinery is located, the city of Krymsk and the village of Raevskaya. In the Rostov-on-Don suburb of Aksay, a drone hung on a clothesline of a house on Platov Street, 74, said Acting Governor of the Rostov Region Yuri Slyusar. Due to the threat of an explosion, residents of all 48 apartments were evacuated. No casualties or damage were recorded. In addition, Novoshakhtinsk, Donetsk, Zernograd and Taganrog, as well as Kamensky, Neklinovsky, Chertkovsky, Tarasovsky and Millerovsky districts were attacked by Ukrainian drones. In Donetsk and Zernograd, the roofs of two residential buildings were damaged due to falling drone debris. All these cities and districts are located near the occupied territories of Ukraine.

Against the backdrop of attacks by Ukrainian drones, restrictions were imposed on the receipt and departure of aircraft at the airports of Vladikavkaz, Volgograd and Grozny to ensure flight safety. By seven in the morning Moscow time, the restrictions were lifted. During this time, three planes were sent to alternate airfields: one flew to Vladikavkaz, one to Volgograd, and one to Grozny.
