US President Donald Trump has launched a "self-deportation" program for illegal migrants. Any illegal migrant can show up at the airport and get a free ticket, reports DW.

- Today I signed an executive order launching the first-ever self-deportation program for illegal migrants. We're making it as easy as possible for illegal migrants to leave America. Any illegal migrant can simply show up at the airport and get a free ticket out of our country," the American president said on the social network Truth Social.

He said a mobile app has been launched for this purpose, where you can book a ticket to your home country in advance.

He also promised migrants a "very important departure bonus. Its size Donald Trump did not name, but noted that the departure of illegal migrants will save the American budget "trillions of dollars". Earlier, the US Department of Homeland Security said that volunteers would be paid $1,000.

Those who will not leave the US on their own, the president promised "harsh consequences" and "penalties, including significant prison terms," as well as fines, confiscation of property and income.
