"There Are Victorious Men Driving Around Town."

Impressions of Homel citizens from the celebration of May 9.

A resident of Homel shared with "Flagpole" his feelings about the celebration of Victory Day in Homel and noted that it is increasingly beginning to resemble the Russian "victory":

"After Lukashenko said that you can hang "Coloradian" ribbons, they began to meet twice as often. Not like in Ukraine. That's how they "fight fascism" with Russia. This year there is much more codswallop everywhere. A few more years of such treatment - and the victory will be like in Russia."

According to the citizen of Homel, if in previous years state organizations, schools and clinics hung small posters, now there are posters with slogans: "I remember, I am proud", "We won".

"Victory-dobes drive around the city - cars with rear and passenger windows taped with posters. Some activists. In a couple of days I saw 4 cars painted. I think it's some ideologists, maybe someone from the education system," continues Homel resident.

He notes that krinj is often encountered. For example, in a grocery store, both cashiers and loaders went to work wearing pilots with red stars:

"Why did they go to work without automatic rifles and helmets?"

At the same time, according to the interlocutor, "people do not support all this very much":

"I have not seen people hugging and congratulating each other like in Russia. Don't confuse the organized crowd with ordinary people."
