The IT Sector In Belarus Gave Up Its Positions

The mass relocation did not go unnoticed.

The share of the IT-sector in the economy of Belarus has decreased by almost one and a half times in four years. This follows from the statistical yearbook "Belarus in Figures," writes "Zerkalo".

At the end of 2024, the share of such industry as "information and communication," which includes IT, in the economy was 4.9%. And in 2020 it was 7.3%.

This sphere of activity was then ahead of agriculture, real estate transactions, transport workers and construction. Now, of all these areas, only transportation activities are behind it.

According to the National Statistics Committee, in January - March, information and communication increased its role in GDP to 5.1%.

Other indicators, the industry has also begun to leave the leaders. Thus, the average earnings from 2021 to 2024 in the country increased by 57%. This is an indicator without taking inflation into account. And for information and communication specialists - only by 22.5%. As for real wages, they have been falling for two years in a row, but last year they returned to growth, increasing by 3.6%.

If in 2021 in the field worked 3.4% of all employed, in 2024 - only 3%.
