Bundestag Deputy: Russia May Attack NATO In 2-3 Years Already

Putin may not have to wait.

Bundestag deputy from the ruling CDU party Norbert Rettgen believes that European NATO states should speed up the strengthening of their defense capabilities because Russia could carry out an attack earlier than currently sounded in official statements.

Rettgen's words are quoted by n-tv.

The German deputy believes that Russian leader Vladimir Putin may not wait "four or five years" to carry out an attack. Rettgen warned that the Kremlin leader could decide to act sooner, perhaps as soon as two or three years from now.

The politician said Putin could take advantage of the fact that the Europeans will not have reached their military objectives by then and that as long as Donald Trump remains U.S. president, the situation regarding the U.S. government will remain uncertain.

"We are under great time pressure and have an urgent need to improve our defense capabilities. After all, the situation could worsen and become more dangerous than official statements suggest," Rettgen warned at the German-American conference.
