The pressure on the RF is growing.
Trump's demand that Kiev urgently start negotiations with Moscow has jeopardized the introduction of new EU sanctions against Russia. At the same time, experts do not believe that the U.S. president's actions are in any way related to an attempt to collude with Russia.
The Ukrainian president was forced to give the go-ahead for negotiations with Russia even without a cease-fire in order not to offend Trump, writes The Guardian.
Putin, however, made such an offer in order not to alienate Trump and to prevent EU countries from imposing new sanctions against Russia.
EU politicians, however, say that Trump did not collude with Moscow in this case. Back on May 10, Tusk, Macron, Starmer and Merz arrived in Kiev to prove to Trump that the Kremlin was just stalling. They also wanted to convince the US leader to impose new sanctions against Russia.
Yesterday, EU foreign ministry leaders met in London, still insisting that peace talks can only begin after a complete ceasefire.
The Kremlin did not respond to calls from Ukraine and the EU to start a ceasefire from May 12. At the same time, Putin said he was ready to start direct talks with Kiev.
