Zelensky Names Key Topics He Is Ready To Discuss With Putin

The President of Ukraine is ready for a personal meeting.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said he is ready for a face-to-face meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, which could take place on May 15 in Istanbul. The main topics of the talks should be a complete ceasefire and the exchange of all prisoners.

Zelensky said this in an interview with Liberation.

Zelensky noted that third-party mediation is needed to reach sustainable agreements, as "the Russians will not trust the Ukrainians, and the Ukrainians will not trust the Russians." He believes that only external guarantors, in particular the USA, can ensure the implementation of the agreements.

The Ukrainian president also noted that he was ready to arrive in Turkey for talks even if a ceasefire is not reached by May 15. He emphasized that he would do everything possible to start a dialogue, which could be the first step towards ending the war.

In turn, US President Donald Trump announced that a delegation led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio would be sent to Istanbul. Trump also said he would personally join the talks if Putin agreed to come to the meeting.
