One Of Norway's Richest Men Died In A Road Accident In Poland
Håkon Vigner Lindahl Olaysen

The co-owner of a salmon farming and processing company drove his Jaguar into a tree.

One of Norway's richest men, co-owner of fishing company Nova Sea Hokon Vigner Lindahl Olaisen, was killed in a traffic accident in Poland, local portal RMF 24 reported.

The accident occurred in Mazowieckie province in eastern Poland. Olaisen's Jaguar crashed into a tree beside the road for unknown reasons.

Nova Sea's Director of Communications and Public Relations Daniel Bjarmann Simonsen confirms Olaisen's death in comments to Norway's NRK.

"It is with great sadness that we inform you that Nova Sea co-owner Håkon Vigner Lindahl Olaisen was killed in a car accident in Poland this morning. Many in the company knew Håkon. Our thoughts are with the family," the report said.

NRK reports that two people were killed in the crash, who the second victim was, was not specified.

Olaisen was born in 1982 to Steinar Olaisen, who by then had been farming and processing salmon for a decade. That business was the basis for Nova Sea in 1985, which then passed to the children of its founder, who died in 2011, Lindal, Aino and Maria. The company has more than 30 fish farms in Norway.

In 2024 in the ranking of 400 richest people in Norway according to the publication Kapital Lindal Olaisen ranked together with his sisters 305th place.

In January this year, the main owner of Nova Sea became the concern Mowi - now it controls 95% of the company. Previously, Mowi had 49% of the company, and bought 46% of shares from Vigner Olaisen for €625 mln. Part of the deal was repaid with Mowi shares.
