There Was A Blackout In Bali

The island, popular with Belarusian tourists, partially plunged into darkness.

A massive power outage has occurred on the Indonesian island of Bali, the Jakarta Globe reports.

The blackout began around 3-16:00 p.m. local time (10-11:00 p.m. Minsk time) and affected most of the island.

The state-owned power company PLN Bali attributed the failure to damage to an undersea power cable that runs from Java Island to Bali. Because of this, all Balinese power plants simultaneously shut down, resulting in a sudden and widespread blackout.

Although the restoration of electricity has already begun, PLN noted that the system is still stabilizing and new partial blackouts are possible. By evening (it was around midnight local time in Bali at the time of publication), the power supply had been restored to about 50%.
