Lukashenko's security guard was involved in the money laundering case.
A 41-year-old Turkish citizen Cemil Onal was killed in the suburbs of The Hague. He had previously said that his life was in danger because of information he had about bribes to high-ranking Turkish politicians, writes the publication Follow the Money.

Onal was reportedly shot dead on Thursday evening on the terrace of a hotel in the town of Rijswijk. Police in the Netherlands have confirmed that a murder investigation has been launched, but no suspect has yet been apprehended.
Onal had previously claimed in media interviews that he had evidence of corruption among Turkish officials and that Turkish authorities were seeking his extradition in connection with the 2022 murder of Halil Falala, a powerful casino owner and alleged crime lord in Northern Cyprus. The man denied the charges and claimed that the real reason for the prosecution was his knowledge of illegal money flows.
In particular, he said that Halil Falyaly together with his partner Mustafa Shener opened H Casino in Minsk to launder money, writes the Belarusian Investigative Center. In February 2025, BRC journalists were able to confirm key points of his testimony, including the connection between Turkish criminals and the owners of H Casino, the multi-million dollar global money laundering scheme, and the owners' and director's acquaintance with Belarusian security officials, including Alexander Lukashenko's security guard.
A few days before his death, Onal addressed journalists and authorities, warning that he feared for his life.
The Turk's lawyer said threats against him had been repeatedly brought to the attention of the Dutch prosecutor's office. The office confirmed it had been in contact with the victim but said there were "no sufficient grounds to launch further investigations" at the time.
