Attack On Novorossiysk: AFU Marine Drone Shot Down Russian Su-30 Fighter Jet

An Su-30 fighter jet was shot down near Novorossiysk during a massive drone attack. A crewless boat successfully hit the aircraft with an R-73 missile, "Focus" reports.

Russian Telegram channel Rybar says it happened at night 50 kilometers west of Novorossiysk. An uncrewed gunboat (BEC) hit a Su-30 fighter jet with a R-73 missile.

"It was shot down using the 'lure it out - catch it' tactic. The pilots ejected, they were picked up by civilian sailors. Both are alive," he said.

Propagandists assure that the Russian Armed Forces have the means to combat this threat: ordinary FPV drones with competent operators allegedly effectively hit BECs.

The Elder Eddy channel notes that Ukrainian BECs are equipped with a set of air defense missiles or artisanal MLRS. The boats operate at a distance of 30-40 kilometers from the coast and to defeat them the occupants raise aviation in the air.

Naturally, the planes will be exposed to fire. Propagandists advise to use long-range drones with a warhead that will allegedly disable the attacking BEC.

Russian Tellegram channel Fighterbomber notes that on the night of May 3, the Russian Black Sea Fleet was "blown away" by naval aviation. The AFU brought more than 30 BECs of all types to the Novorossiysk area, and dozens of drones were also launched from the Odessa area at Novorossiysk.

BECs are extremely difficult to destroy by aviation - it can be done only if they are visually visible to the pilot at the time of the attack. This is due to the absence in the world of guided or homing aircraft missiles for hitting small, high-speed and maneuvering targets.

"Aircraft are forced to approach the boats almost at point-blank range, inevitably coming under fire from MANPADS, SAMs and remote-controlled machine guns," writes the author of the channel.

The Su-30 crew, he said, saved a civilian dry cargo ship, with five BECs around one of the crew members at once.
