"Outreach" is underway.
The new academic year may bring a number of changes to the Belarusian education system. Head of the Main Department of Education of the Ministry of Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Bashko in an interview with the regional edition told about the key innovations, which should come into force on September 1, 2025, along with the updated Code of Education.
Bashko says that although there is no direct mention of telephones in the Code, the norm that the school becomes a "territory without a telephone" will still come into force on September 1. The topic, according to him, is "overripe," and now "explanatory work" is being carried out, writes "Telegraf".
The mechanism, according to the official, is simple: come to school - hand over the gadget, leave - take it back. The places of storage and responsible persons have already been determined. Bashko said that not all information from phones is "controllable" and referred to the experience of "prestigious institutions" and faraway Australia, where phones "have long been banned." Instead, he suggested "visual posters, teaching aids, a blackboard, chalk and live communication."
A little simplification awaits enrollment in sections and circles of additional education. If previously the consent of two legal representatives was required, then from September 1, the application of a minor with the consent of one of them, or just the application of one parent/representative will be enough.
In addition, foster parents and parents-educators must become teachers. Bashko mentioned the growth of status and salaries.
The powers of local authorities to organize free transportation of children - now not only to schools / kindergartens, but also to sports / cultural events within large settlements.
The responsibility of customers of targeted training should be strengthened. If the organization itself terminates the contract with a "target student," it will have to reimburse the state for the cost of his training.
The official also admitted that "child demography" is falling, and announced the closure of 20 educational institutions in Minsk region (14 kindergartens, 6 schools) in 15 districts by September 1. A few more may be reorganized. Thus, optimization will affect the centers of creativity (two each in Berezino and Salihorsk).
