Putin Makes Surprise Statement On Truce With Ukraine

It is Russia that thwarts any attempt to introduce it.

Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin has spoken of an "inevitable" truce in the war against Ukraine. Although it is Russia that thwarts any attempts to introduce it.

This is what RBC-Ukraine writes with reference to the Russian media.

"It seems to me that it is inevitable, despite all the tragedy we are experiencing now.... It's a matter of time," he said.

On March 11, delegations from Ukraine and the United States met in Saudi Arabia. There, they agreed on a 30-day ceasefire, as well as the resumption of U.S. military aid deliveries and intelligence sharing.

In turn, Russia refused to support a 30-day ceasefire without conditions. The Kremlin made a number of demands, including restoring communication with the SWIFT system.

In addition, before Easter, on April 19, Kremlin head Vladimir Putin announced a unilateral 30-hour "ceasefire" in Ukraine. But it remained only on paper. The occupiers continued shelling Ukrainian cities and civilians.

Also in late April, Putin announced a temporary "truce" in the war during the 80th anniversary of "Victory Day." It will allegedly be in effect from May 8 to 11.

In turn, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky rejected the "truce" for May 9. According to him, Ukraine is not responsible for events that may take place in Russia on May 9. Kiev does not recommend leaders of other countries to travel to Moscow.
