Trump Puts An End To Third Term Rumors

The US president said he "plans to pass the baton to a strong Republican".

President Donald Trump has said he has no plans to run for the US presidency for a third time. He said he is focused on the current cadence.

According to NBC News.

In an interview for the "Meet the Press" program, Trump said he has received many requests from allies to run again after a second term, but he understands the legal constraints.

"I'll be president for eight years, I'll be a two-term president. I've always thought that was very important," Trump emphasized.

The president said a third term is something that "as far as he knows, he's not allowed to do." He added that he wasn't sure if it was explicitly provided for in the Constitution, although the 22nd Amendment prohibits running for president more than twice.

Despite his previous statements and speculation, particularly the sale of red caps that read "Trump 2028," Trump said he has no plans to run for a third time. He explained that he plans to have a successful cadence and pass the baton to a "strong Republican."
