There will be a second round.
Far-right candidate George Simion is in the lead in the Romanian presidential election. However, a second round of voting awaits him.
This is evidenced by the data of exit polls CURS and Avangard, which are published by the Romanian media hotnews.ro.
CURS exit poll results:
George Simion - 33.1%
Krin Antonescu - 22.9%
Nikushor Dan - 20.9%
Victor Ponta - 14.7%
Elena Lasconi - 4.4%
Vanguard exitpoll results:
George Simion - 30%
Krin Antonescu - 23%
Nicusor Dan - 23%
Victor Ponta - 15%
Elena Lasconi - 4%
It is predicted that none of the candidates will get more than 50% of the votes. Therefore, a second round of elections will be held on May 18.
Thus, according to the results of exit polls, in the second round Simion may face Antonescu (one of Romania's most influential political leaders, who served as president in 2012) or Dan (the mayor of Bucharest, known for his anti-corruption activities), whose difference in support is on the verge of statistical error.
