Pakistan has launched retaliatory strikes against targets in India, Samaa TV reported, citing sources. The AP also reported that the Pakistani military was conducting retaliatory strikes, citing Pakistani security officials.
According to AP interlocutors, missiles fired by India hit areas in Pakistan-controlled parts of Kashmir and eastern Punjab province. As a result, a mosque in the town of Bahawalpur in Punjab was destroyed, a child was killed, and a woman and a man were injured.
Civilian casualties were also reported by Geo TV, citing the Pakistani military.
The Indian Defense Ministry said it hit nine "terrorist infrastructure" sites in Pakistan as part of Operation Sindur. The ministry said the military's actions were "targeted, measured and non-escalatory" and the strikes were carried out as there were "planned terrorist attacks" against India from Pakistan.
