Chinese President Si Jinping came to Moscow to "say hello" and show that he has influence over Russia. China sees Russia as a favorable economic partner.

Politologist and international expert Maksim Nesvitaylov aired "Channel 24" and explained that Xi Jinping came to Russia to show that it remains in Beijing's sphere of influence. Donald Trump is trying to distance Russia from China, but Beijing actively opposes this.

- That's why Xi came to demonstrate to Trump that Russia is not his.

As far as I'm concerned, the main purpose of the visit is exactly that - Xi wanted to show his strength and "say hello" to Trump. Because in reality, Russia already gives China everything it wants. The Kremlin is well aware of how dependent they are, and they do not risk crossing their "big brother" from Beijing," Nesvitaylov said.

He added that China has now started to talk more frankly about the war in Ukraine. And this is not surprising - China benefits from it. It doesn't need the war to end.

- It benefits from Russia becoming even more dependent and being pressured by new sanctions. Because China itself does not suffer much because of this. Secondary sanctions do not hurt - that's why Beijing is calmly taking advantage of the situation," Nesvitaylov explained.

Nesvitaylov added that China sees how weakly the US is behaving now. They may not have been so vulnerable for decades. And Beijing wants to capitalize on this moment. For that, Xi needs Russia - as a source of resources and nuclear weapons.
